Invitation To Latvia by AngstromAlliance Invitation To Latvia by AngstromAlliance
A brief departure from über complex meshing brings you this deviation designed to encourage travel to Latvia. This was inspired after being stranded in Riga for a week courtesy of my flight out of there being delayed for five days thanks to the Icelandic volcano.

Not much to explain on the technical front... took a photo and did a vector illustration of it in Illustrator CS5. Type was thrown in for good measure as a humourous aside purely for my own pleasure :D

Excellent interpretation. Colour scheme does justice to the actual monument. Glad you enjoyed your visit there but not sure the slogan/artwork will be a tourist draw for others

I had alternative taglines, such as 'The docks might be closed, but the bars are open' but the typographic message was only ever a light hearted aside. I'd recommend Riga for a visit - just check for dust clouds is before you commit yourself :D.

Glad you like the illustration, though.

Great example of your versatility as an illustrator. The most striking part of this piece to me are the various shades of color and nice gradient behind the type. Very clean and well done.

You are very kind in your appraisal of my illustrative abilities and I'm pleased you like how this one turned out. I tried various colour combinations before deciding this sepia/chocolate variation was the right one.

Brilliant stylised illustration. Sometimes less really is more! Like the eastern european hint of the typeface too.

Thanks Flaatcap. Recent projects have taken me away from incorporating typography but this I felt piece demanded it.

Like the layout and the how the different shades of the color came together!
